OCEAN PLASTIC POLLUTION CONTINUES TO BE A CRITICAL PROBLEM

OCEAN PLASTIC POLLUTION CONTINUES TO BE A CRITICAL PROBLEM

Every minute, one garbage truck of plastic is dumped into our oceans

By 2050, plastic will outweigh all of the fish in the ocean

Impoverished countries account for 60% of the world's plastic problem

They are without appropriate municipal recycling centers to collect post-consumer plastic

IT'S TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As part of our ongoing efforts to promote and incorporate sustainable decisions, processes and products into our business, Swish is proud to partner with Ralston and Plastic Bank in their SocialPlastic® initiative.

What is Social Plastic?

Social Plastic® is ethically recovered material from the Plastic Bank ecosystem that transfers its value to communities in need.

THE SOLUTION

Social Plastic® is made from ocean-bound plastic.

The resin it produces helps provide income opportunities to impoverished worldwide communities and the fight against ocean plastic pollution.

THE PROCESS

Plastic is collected by local families' ocean shores, rivers, bays, and streams in Haiti and is taken to Plastic Bank® centers. Here it is exchanged for tokens for locals to buy goods, services, and food.

Plastic is then sorted, converted into pellet form, and reused in Social Plastic® garbage bags.

In partnership with our industrial liners provider, we are proud to be part of this solution. Not only about the pollution, this fight is strengthening impoverished communities while cleaning oceans at the same time.
